Translated to “Hello” in Swahili, Jambo attempts to evoke the unshakable happiness of the citizens of Kenya and Tanzania. Inspired by a family safari to the region, I was struck by this warm greeting that perpetually met throughout on our travels, and it is from this expression that the two-part melody is derived.
